Delegate Experience
Arpitchanand Tipayanond

“Being a delegate of TUMUN has taught me invaluable lessons that improve me as a person. I am very headstrong but I have learned to compromise and put aside personal biases to look at the bigger picture and aim for the most encompassing solutions. TUMUN has broadened my perspective and expanded various facets of my personal academic career. I have always been a very headstrong person but by becoming a delegate of TUMUN, I have learned to become more compromising by considering different perspectives to seek out the most encompassing solution while aiming for the bigger picture. I have become proud of my viewpoints and my ability to put aside personal biases which are precious values earned from being a delegate of TUMUN. The experiences and lessons I have gained from being in TUMUN have been invaluable.”

“Starting from delegate recruitment, being a TUMUN delegate requires commitment, critical thinking, responsibilities, and many more skills. I was indeed quite surprised with how systematic the whole training was. Although it requires a lot of commitment, these tasks certainly improve many things about you.
Although just a model diplomat, learning a diplomat’s skills has exposed me to other practices outside of law that I find intriguing. To be able to represent a country that, sometimes, you have never even heard of before has broadened my perspective and taught me more about the world than I would have otherwise.
Finally, TUMUN would not have been a memorable experience without the people, whether it is the people who are behind the scenes running the whole thing or the people that you met, fought, negotiated with, or allied with in the conferences, they are what makes TUMUN what it is.
If you want to get out of your comfort zone, risk making mistakes so that you can improve as a person, strive for new experiences, and a lot more, give TUMUN a chance.”

“Being a delegate of TUMUN is considered to be the advantage for those who put high interests in global governance as TUMUN offered extensive understanding of the United Nations’ responsibilities and field of practices through valuable activities that simulates the actual events and meetings within the United Nations. For further self-benefits, I also could improve my communication skills, self-confidence and most importantly, the skills that could assist my academic years in the university as well as my potential careers in the future.”

“For me, being the delegate is very challenge and impressive one. I have been challenged all of my fear when doing MUN as a delegate. I have to come up with new ideas and express the possible solutions for the committee. Also, as law student I have to developed myself through politics, socio, and also economic. I have lots of memory for MUN and It has been a pleasure for me to participate in this experience. I have met so many brilliant people here as a delegate. Sometimes it’s hard and complicated and might be sensitive one. But you have to push your hard work and tried all of your best. Trying to solved the problem in the real situation and truly for your belief. That’s why we have the delegate because we would like you all to represent and express your truly belief in a way which you can help the committee.Hence, If you are the one who wants to developed more, practiced more and gain more. Being a delegate is the suitable one. TUMUN is not only a work but it has been a family. I really appreciate all the moment arising here and always support for TUMUN.”
